Alan Kazan (MD, FASAM), Medical Director
Chicago native Alan Kazan studied at Marquette University, earning a bachelor’s degree in biology before going on to Loyola-Stritch School of Medicine. Dr. Kazan’s certifications include the American Board of Addiction Medicine, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
After beginning the recovery process himself in 1983, Dr. Kazan became certified in addiction medicine in 1986 while practicing emergency medicine. In 1992, he became the medical director of a chemical dependency program at a hospital, and he has continued practicing inpatient addiction medicine ever since.
Dr. Kazan has a comprehensive personal and professional understanding of addictive disorders, which enhances his ability to care for individuals requesting treatment. Patients who come into treatment are remarkably improved after, and he says it is a rewarding feeling to be an integral part of their overall progress and see patients he has treated go on to have success in recovery.
Dr. Kazan has two grown children and many interests ranging from traveling, scuba diving, snow skiing and activities with his children to reading, learning and spending time at his vacation home.
