Paul R. Valbuena (MD), Director of Psychiatry
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised in Norman, Oklahoma, Paul Valbuena grew up around the medical profession, thanks to his surgeon father and nurse mother. The younger Dr. Valbuena studied microbiology at the University of Oklahoma and earned his medical degree from Fatima University. From there, he travelled to Michigan State for his adult psychiatry residency followed by a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Maricopa Integrated Health. Board certified in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Valbuena loves the rewarding feeling of witnessing a patient’s recovery firsthand, knowing he played a role in it. Another highlight of his job is being part of a treatment team that is empowered to better people’s lives. Married with four children, Dr. Valbuena has many hobbies he enjoys when not working, including football, boxing, cars, basketball, movies, cooking and traveling.
